The Premier League what if series returns for another gameweek. With 2 weeks to go Bournemouth and Aston Villa will be desperate for wins in the fight to stay up while Liverpool will be looking to reach 100 points this week.
Aston Villa vs Arsenal
What would have happened:
Arsenal managed to beat Villa at the Emirates despite going down to 10 while 1-0 down. Considering Villa were a better side then than they are now I’m struggling to see them win this one. It looks like only drawing to Palace may have been the result that doomed them to relegation this season and I can see Arsenal edging this one to send them down.
Aston Villa 1-2 Arsenal
Bournemouth vs Southampton
What would have happened:
Bournemouth were clinical in a 3-1 away win in the reverse fixture but Southampton are a far better side now than they were at the start of the season and are also better away than they are at home so I’d expect this game to be much closer. Bournemouth will be desperate for a result here but I feel that 1-1 is the most likely score in this one with Southampton being a lot more solid at the back than in the previous fixture.
Bournemouth 1-1 Southampton
Brighton and Hove Albion vs Newcastle United
What would have happened:
Brighton were unlucky not to win the last time these sides played and I can see them making amends this time in a must win game. They create plenty of chances and can score a couple of goals here. I also like them to keep their second clean sheet against Newcastle as I can’t see them creating too many chances.
Brighton 2-0 Newcastle
Liverpool vs Chelsea
What would have happened:
Chelsea probably are the team other than Man City who had the best chance of stopping Liverpool from having a perfect league record at Anfield this season but I don’t believe they’re quite at the level yet to stop Liverpool getting the perfect record and with the motivation of bringing up 100 points on the line as well I believe they’ll play some of their best football here and win surprisingly comfortably.
Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea
Manchester United vs West Ham United
What would have happened:
This is the first time Moyes would have returned to Old Trafford since his infamous reign at United which maybe would have given them some more incentive to get a result but with safety virtually sealed last week and United being one of the form teams in the country, I can’t see them giving United too many troubles here and this should be a comfortable win for them.
Man United 3-0 West Ham
Norwich vs Burnley
What would have happened:
I have a feeling Norwich would’ve been one of those sides that suddenly started playing a lot better once their fate had been sealed and I could see them winning here. Getting to the top half looks to be a tough ask for Burnley now having only picked up 1 point from their last 9 and Norwich do play very well at Carrow Road though their results don’t reflect that at times. With this being their last home Premier league game for the time being, expect them to go out in style.
Norwich 3-1 Burnley
Sheffield United vs Everton
What would have happened:
Everton struggle away from home, especially at the back and I can see this causing them to be beaten here with Sheffield United being known for being very tight at the back. I do fancy them to score though and give them a good game. But I like Sheffield United to score a couple here and continue their push for 7th.
Sheffield United 2-1 Everton
Tottenham vs Leicester City
What would have happened:
Both teams come into this having played well last week and this should be a fun matchup. I can see a full strength Spurs side causing Leicester problems going forward but Spurs have a dodgy defence and Leicester will have plenty of joy going forward which I believe will lead to a high scoring draw.
Tottenham 2-2 Leicester
Watford vs Manchester City
What would have happened:
Watford have a horrific record against Man City and while I don’t see this being anywhere near the 8-0 drubbing earlier in the season I can see City winning comfortably with a clean sheet again with Aguero and Mahrez starring with the goal difference blow putting Watford back in danger.
Watford 0-3 Man City
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Crystal Palace
What would have happened:
This game will probably be very tight. Palace are the sort of side that can give Wolves problems as they are pretty solid at the back and are also pretty good at scoring away from home. I’m going to say they pull off the upset here. Wolves have had a very long season by this point and I can see this sort of tough game being a major stumbling block for them and Palace finally ending their winless run.
Wolves 0-1 Crystal Palace
